Il fait écho à l’Arbre multi-couleurs de l’artiste Philippe Million situé devant la gare de Saint-Etienne Châteaucreux. Bien moins fringant que ce dernier, l’Arbre à Vent se veut cependant plus discret. Il doit se fondre dans ce nouveau décor de la ville qui souhaite associer la modernité des nouvelles technologies à l’héritage culturel des bâtiments de l’ancienne Manufacture d’armes de Saint-Etienne. Une volonté de se projeter vers l’avenir tout en évitant de faire table rase du passé ? En voilà peut-être une jolie métaphore de Saint-Etienne. Une ville qui doit construire son avenir tout en cultivant la richesse culturelle de son passé industriel. Qui a dit qu’il n’était pas possible d’associer ces deux approches ? Behind the Cité du Design, a stone’s throw from the Pôle Optique, stands an unusual tree, the Wind Tree. It echoes the multicolored Tree by artist Philippe Million, located in front of the Saint-Etienne-Châteaucreux train station. Far less exuberant than its predecessor, the Wind Tree is nonetheless more discreet. It must blend into the new urban landscape, which seeks to combine the modernity of new technologies with the cultural heritage of the buildings of the former Saint-Etienne Arms Factory. Cette rue résidentielle n’est pas la plus touristique mais elle offre cependant quelques points de vue imbattables sur d’autres quartiers (anciens ou nouveaux) de Saint-Etienne. Pour l’avoir arpentée un certain nombre de fois dans ma jeunesse, j’ai constaté qu’elle n’était pas vraiment empruntée par les piétons mais plutôt par les nombreux véhicules (voitures, bus ou 2 roues) qui transitent régulièrement par ce coin de la ville. Cependant, ni les voitures ni les bus ne peuvent se vanter de croiser quelques jolies plantes sur certaines portions. Et par jolies plantes, je parle bien entendu de la flore qui illumine cette rue de par sa belle exubérance. Elle inspire et nous fait rêver, laissant vaquer notre imagination à de belles créations. Rue des Alliés connects the Saint-François and Monthieu districts, ending its long journey below the Bois d’Avaize forest. This residential street isn’t the most touristy, but it does offer some unbeatable views of other (old and new) neighborhoods in Saint-Etienne. Having walked it many times in my youth, I noticed that it wasn’t really used by pedestrians, but rather by the numerous vehicles (cars, buses, and motorcycles) that regularly pass through this part of town. However, neither cars nor buses can boast of encountering any pretty plants along certain sections. And by pretty plants, I’m referring, of course, to the flora that brightens this street with its beautiful exuberance.
